Introduction

Your summary is four lines at the top of your resume. It's also the highest-value real estate for keyword placement and first-impression formation.

Most fresher summaries in India look like this: "Enthusiastic and hardworking individual seeking challenging opportunities to grow professionally in a dynamic organisation." That sentence contains zero keywords, zero specifics, and zero reasons to keep reading.

The framework

Every effective summary answers three questions in four lines:

  1. What is your technical identity? (degree, primary skill area)
  2. What have you done? (strongest project or proof point, with a number)
  3. What do you want to do here? (role title + company-specific reference)

Making your summary role-specific

Each of these examples is written for a specific company or role type. The version you send to TCS should differ from the one you send to a startup. Your summary is the first thing to customise for every application.
